African airlines experienced a significant 22.1% increase in Revenue Passenger Kilometers in November 2023 compared to the same period the previous year, as reported by the International Air Transport Association.
Experts note that the industry’s ability to attract more passengers and expand capacity reflects a robust performance in the face of challenges in the aviation sector.
Susan Akporiaye, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies, highlighted that despite challenges such as the high exchange rate causing over a 200% increase in airfares, the traffic in Nigeria remains high. She emphasized that Nigerians’ natural inclination toward travel contributed to the sustained demand.
