Sierra Leone Awards Six Offshore Oil Blocks to Folorunso Alakija’s F.A. Oil Ltd

The Government of Sierra Leone has reportedly awarded six offshore oil blocks to F. A. Oil Ltd, a company owned by Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunso Alakija. An unconfirmed public notice posted by Tolu Ogunlesi, an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, stated that the awards were for “offshore Graticular blocks.” The notice mentioned that Alakija’s company signed the required license agreement for Blocks 53, 54, 55, 71, 72, and 73.

The notice emphasized the continued confidence of the investment community in Sierra Leone’s leadership and expressed appreciation for the cooperation opportunity between Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Folorunso Alakija, CEO/Chairman of F.A. Oil Limited, assured that the license agreement would result in a win-win outcome for both parties. The signing ceremony was described as a defining moment in Sierra Leone’s petroleum resource development.
