636 refineries were intercepted from further operations by the Nigerian military and 21m litres of crude oil has been saved.
Following the directives of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Service Chiefs in June, the Nigerian military has waged war against illegal refineries and oil pilfering.
To this effect, about 54bn Naira has been saved and thousands of oil thieves has been apprehended, especially in the South South region. These figures were based on the military press release on the activities of the force against oil pilfering between August 3 and December 1.
Oladele Fajana, a security expert urged the military not to relent their efforts in the fight against illegal oil mining and refining. To him, their activities have led to serious economic challenges in Nigeria for a long time.
