The Securities and Exchange Commission has stated that it is prepared to address and resolve the issues that lead companies to withdraw from the capital market.
Lamido Yuguda, the director general of the commission, made this statement in an interview.
According to him, the regulator recognized the need for a platform where the commission could communicate with issuers in an effort to deter delisting in order to develop the market.
“When issuers delist, they do so due to specific problems,” stated Yuguda. Therefore, we made the decision to create the Securities Issuers Forum and involve the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association. This was done in order to discuss the problems and come up with solutions.
The protection of investors is increased by listing. The success of this partnership with NECA has inspired faith in many of the players.
