The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd has resumed an oil drilling program in Wadi-B in Borno State’s Jere Local Government Area.
The NNPC restarted drilling after stopping in Wadi-B in 1995 because successes were limited at the time and finds were not in commercial quantities, according to reports.
Mele Kyari, NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, stated Wednesday that the corporation intends to provide wealth to the people by eradicating the energy poverty that is currently threatening Africa’s largest economy.
Kyari made the pledge during President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential flag-off of the Wadi-B drilling campaign in Borno State.
