The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) budget for 2023 was approved by the Senate, reaching N876 billion. A total of N451 million was also approved as compensation for the aides of 12 NDDC board members.
The approved budget also includes N576 million for the Chairman of the Commission’s Office, Laurreta Onochie. The breakdown for the Chairman’s office revealed that the staff cost would be N156 million, the overhead cost would be N312 million, and the internal capital cost would be N108 million.
Personnel expense is expected to consume N34.2 billion of the commission’s entire budget, while overhead expenditure is expected to consume N17 billion.
Internal capital expenditure would amount to N3.7 billion, development projects would amount to N490 billion, and federal government engagement in the Niger Delta would amount to N330 billion.
