The Niger Delta Development Commission applauded the Senate for taking action to investigate the agency’s account from 2021 to 2022 for N1.4 trillion in unauthorized expenditures.

It should be recalled that the Senate established an ad hoc committee during its session to investigate the financial operations of the NDDC for the budget projections for 2021 and 2022.

In order to gain more details and clarification on the budget’s numbers, the Senate also put off considering the NDDC’s 2023 budget.

In the statement, the NDDC stated that it recognized the Senate’s oversight responsibilities and was prepared to cooperate with the investigating committee.

The commission has nothing to hide and is dedicated to accountability and transparency in its activities, it was noted. It’s crucial that we clarify that the Senate has not accused the board and management of the NDDC of corruption or misappropriation of N1.4tn.
