Guy Ryder, the Undersecretary-General for Policy in the United Nations Secretary-General’s Executive Office, claims that trade is a crucial strategy for carrying out the 2030 Agenda.
He claimed that a key strategy for reaching many Sustainable Development Goals was trade. He contends that additional action is required to strengthen the trading capacities of poor nations and harmonize international trade laws with the SDGs so that trade serves all policy goals.
He went on to say that the inclusive, networked, and effective multilateralism envisioned in the common agenda depended heavily on an open, rules-based, transparent, and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system.
