Nigeria’s state-owned oil company, NNPC Ltd, announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Norwegian business Golar LNG (GLNG.O) to construct a floating liquefied natural gas plant there.
Nigeria, the largest oil producer in Africa, also has some of the largest gas reserves in the world and is looking for investment to increase both its domestic production and exports.
Golar had previously stated intentions to establish a power project in Nigeria that could import liquefied natural gas using one of its vessels.
