The Federal Government’s efforts to improve aviation safety in the nation by purchasing fire tenders for airports have been praised by Engr Akin Olateru, Director-General of the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau.
The acquisition of the fire tenders was in accordance with the safety recommendations issued by NSIB in the past when it was known as the Accident Investigation Bureau, according to a statement by the General Manager of Public Affairs NSIB, Tunji Oketunbi.
He brought up the Sosoliso tragedy of 2005, in which many people perished tragically, including schoolchildren, and which was made worse by the airport’s insufficient fire tenders. Before in his remark, the President of NAFSA, Sunday Ugbeikwu, commended NSIB and its leadership for the wonderful work of promoting aviation safety in Nigeria.
