Production in Nigeria fell to about one million barrels per day (bpd) in the third quarter of last year as firms like Shell PLC and TotalEnergies left the nation due to rampant corruption and security concerns.
Exxon told Reuters in February that it has been attempting to sell $1.2 billion in shallow-water assets in Nigeria, where it finds operations to be “challenging.”
