The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning’s consent was not obtained before the Budget Office of the Federation distributed N19 billion to four unnamed Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, according to a request from the Senate.
The alleged illicit payment of N19 billion to four unnamed government agencies by the Budget Office was the subject of an investigation launched by the Senate last October. In its response to the inquiry, the Budget Office of the Federation stated that it had written the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation requesting information for the four MDAs but had not received a response.
The Senate endorsed the report of the budget office’s purported failure to present an approval for the payment of N19 billion to the four MDAs. The query is in the 2016 report of the Auditor General of the Federation which was submitted to the Senate for consideration.
