The groundbreaking ceremony for a N7 billion pipe manufacturing facility at Polaku, Bayelsa State, was conducted by Engr Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board.

With an expected expenditure of roughly N7 billion, the plant would produce pipes made of glass reinforced plastic and epoxy. A pipe manufacturing mill had been planned for the Polaku hamlet for ten years, therefore the construction activity was seen as a realization of a long-held desire.

The pipe manufacturing facility, in Wabote’s opinion, is a monument to the enormous progress made in the nation’s campaign for local content. Engr. Gbenga Olaniyan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of AS Energies Ltd, stated in a welcome speech that the selection of Polaku as the site for the US$8.8 million project was deliberate, as the company sought to be a development partner in the area.
