Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, appealed to Chris Ngige, the minister of labor and employment, to exert pressure on the NLC’s leadership regarding its planned demonstration.
According to a report, the NLC leadership rallied its affiliate unions and State Councils to close all branches of the apex bank nationwide due to the present cash shortage in the nation.
But at a closed-door meeting which held at the headquarters of Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja, Emefiele was quoted as saying the protest would hinder the progress of the apex bank if not averted.
