The country’s institutions have been urged by Polaris Bank Limited and other financial sector players to offer opportunities that would enable women to realize their full potential for the sake of society.
According to a release, the stakeholders discussed advancing women’s empowerment via the use of technology innovation and digital education to commemorate International Women’s Day in 2023 at a webinar hosted by Polaris Bank.
The Chief Executive Officer, Digital Jewels, Adedoyin Odunfa, while addressing on gender imbalance in the workplace, quoted figures that revealed women made up just 46 per cent of the workplace and fewer than two of five per cent of them ended up in leadership positions.
Having more women in the workforce to produce goods and services that empower women is one of the ways to provide these chances, according to Odunfa. Just 30% of Nigeria’s commercial banks have more than 30% women on their boards, and Polaris Bank is one of such institutions.
