15 academics and research interns have been accepted into a one-year sabbatical and research internship program at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited.
The event, which took place recently at the company’s Port Harcourt headquarters, marked the restart of the annual program after it had been put on hold in 2021 due to limitations put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seven research interns will conduct research in identified fields, such as environment, health, oil spill remediation, and community studies, and share their findings with SPDC Joint Venture during the course of the program for use in industry.
The academics, drawn from eight Nigerian universities, include three professors, two associate professors, and three senior lecturers on one-year sabbatical.
