Akpabio won in the Senate election in Akwa Ibom North West.

In the wee hours of Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced that Senator Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress had won the Akwa Ibom North-West Senate race.

Jackson Udom, the chief press secretary for Akpabio, said in a statement that the former minister of Niger Delta affairs has been proclaimed the winner early on today.

Akpabio “satisfied all conditions to be declared the winner having polled 115,401 valid votes to defeat his closest opponent of the People’s Democratic party, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, who tailed behind having polled a distant 69,838 votes,” the collation officer,

Professor Anthony Udoh, said in the statement.
