The business that makes the video conferencing app Zoom has revealed intentions to lay off 1,300 employees.

The decision was made owing to the “uncertainty of the global economy” and its repercussions on the company’s consumers, according to an announcement issued by Zoom’s Chief Executive Officer, Eric Yuan. He disclosed that Zoom’s crew has tripled in size during the previous 24 months in order to satisfy demand.

Zoom’s announcement is the latest of mass job cuts in the tech world. Other digital behemoths including Meta, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have also significantly decreased their workforces in recent months, continuing a pattern that started with Twitter in 2022.
