Hon. Unyime Idem, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, has called on the federal government to increase budgetary support for the construction of the nation’s road infrastructure.
He bemoaned the terrible condition of the nation’s road systems, which he claimed has resulted in untold hardship, the loss of lives, and damage to property. Idem made this declaration at the opening of the 1.2 km Akpan Assiek Market Road that he constructed.
“Our people have suffered countless hardships, lost lives, and lost property as a result of the poor condition of our roads. The House of Representatives member mentioned the Akpan Assiek Market Road, noting that it had remained impassable for more than 30 years, causing the populace untold hardship.
According to him “For more than 30 years, the Akpan Assiek Market Road was impassable and deplorable. “Meanwhile, he appreciated the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for his investment in road development in Ukanafun.
