Alleged Attack on the CBN Headquarters by a Group.
The Coalition of National Interest Defenders, a human rights group, alerted authorities to a new scheme to launch what it called a concerted attack and smear campaigns against Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, over the apex bank’s policies.
The Department of State Services allegedly intended to re-arrest Emefiele despite an active court order, according to the organization that claimed plans to attack the CBN Headquarters had been finalized. Ohazuruike said that crooked politicians, vote-buyers, money-launderers, and other irregularities were behind the attempt to unseat the CBN Governor.
The CSOs called on the DSS to apologise to Emefiele for the trauma it had put him through, and the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for opposing his policies and show support.
Speaking on the issue of the allegedly looted N89tn stamp duty fund, Ohazuruike asked series of questions. “How is it possible for them to claim that we have N89 trillion from stamp duty when the country’s total foreign reserve is not included”?
“How can we have N89tn from just N50 charges when the nation’s total budget since 2016 that President Muhammadu Buhari first presented a budget till date is just about N95tn? “It means that this amount could have funded all the budgets of the country since this administration assumed office.
