Four hydropower projects with a combined capacity to add 110 megawatts of electricity to the national grid were finished, the Federal Government announced on Monday.
It also declared that 11 additional hydropower projects with a combined 3,750MW of electricity capacity had been started, with work already underway at the various project sites.
Suleiman Adamu, the water resources minister, revealed this in a report on the Federal Ministry of Water Resources’ infrastructure development.
The document, which the FMWR made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday, stated that Nigeria had a hydropower potential of 12,220 MW, with 1,930 MW coming from the Kainji, Jebba, and Shiroro dams.
