After reviewing a total of 15,931 projects across the nation, the Nigerian Power Management Services Body, a Federal Government safety enforcement agency, has certified 10,692 electricity projects as ready for use.
The inspection and certification, according to NEMSA’s Managing Director Aliyu Tahir, are important to reduce the risks connected with the misuse and abuse of power, which can result in horrific costs including accidents, fatalities, equipment damage, and unplanned downtime.
Tahir said that the agency has carried out the “inspection of over 15,931 electrical projects across the country, out of which 10,692 have been declared fit for use by NEMSA” in support of the organization’s crucial role in the Nigerian energy supply industry.
Mitigating the hazards of electricity to make it safe, reliable and sustainable, led to the development of Technical Standards, Regulations and Codes,” he stated. He said the Act had empowered NEMSA to collaborate with other relevant government agencies to ensure that all major electrical materials and equipment used in the agency were of the right quality and standard.
