According to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian government would make every effort to totally phase out the use of gasoline and diesel generators in the nation by the year 2060.
During the U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit in Washington, DC, Buhari announced this. According to him, the decision has led to the extraordinary deployment of solar energy in particular.
The President emphasized that various changes, including those on mini-grid rules and the incorporation of renewable energy into the national grid, had been launched by the Nigerian government, making it one of the best in Africa.
By 2060, we want to entirely stop using gasoline and diesel generators, therefore we need to deploy renewable energy, especially solar, at a scale that has never been done before.
