According to supporters of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, the agreement has the potential to increase trade value in Nigeria by $12 billion between 2023 and 2027.
The agreement could also reduce trade costs by 20% by facilitating the enactment of an omnibus bill on the AfCFTA, according to a manual titled ‘Strategy Implementation Framework’ made available to journalists during the Nigeria AfCFTA implementation strategy validation held in Lagos.
The agreement would also carry out trade facilitation and infrastructure programs to boost competitiveness, according to the manual.
