The Nigerian Independent Petroleum Marketers Association has distanced itself from the current Premium Motor Spirit shortage. In a statement released and signed by Femi Adelaja, the chairman of Mosinmi Depot in Ogun State, IPMAN blamed the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and the Federal Government for not making the products readily available to its members at reasonable prices.
Oil marketers have meanwhile disputed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s assertion that the NNPCL had enough gasoline on hand to last 34 days.
According to Oyebanji, until the Federal Government stops the current product importation enjoyed by state oil firm NNPCL, Nigeria will continue to experience recurrent fuel shortages. Oyebanji also noted that logistics issues were equally fuelling petrol scarcity.
