For an unknown price, Helios Investment Partners (Helios) has entered into agreements to purchase the majority shares in Maroc Datacenter (MDC) and IXAfrica Data Centre (IXAfrica).
MDC, a carrier-neutral data center with operations in the Rabat metro region of Morocco, will become an integral part of a larger Helios hyperscale data center platform in the Rabat and Casablanca metro areas after being bought.
Helios claims that in order to fulfill latent and future demand, significant more capacity is required in Africa’s data centers, which are now significantly undeveloped.
MDC and IXAfrica will profit from Helios’ experience developing platforms in Africa and are well-positioned to play significant roles in the digital reforms of Kenya and Morocco, respectively.
With effect from December 2022, Guy Willner has been hired by Helios as managing director of its digital infrastructure.
