According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Nigeria faces a significant danger of importing the deadly Ebola virus from Uganda; where an epidemic was formally reported on September 20, 2022.

The Uganda Ministry of Health recorded 128 confirmed cases and 34 fatalities as of October 29, 2022. This information is according to the NCDC’s release.

Following up on the health condition of passengers coming from Uganda and those who transited there for 21 days following their arrival in Nigeria. In case of an outbreak, trained Rapid Response Teams are prepared to go into action.

The NCDC advised Nigerian residents and citizens to avoid all but necessary travel to Uganda for the time being; until public health officials had determined the outbreak to be contained.
