New Steel Plant Plans To Reduce $3.3bn Imports

Alok Gupta, the Managing Director of the African Industries Group, says that Nigeria needs to develop its large steel deposits. He further advised Nigeria to stop depending on steel imports and further disclosed that the African Natural Resources and Mines Limited.

At a recently concluded Nigeria-Africa Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit in Abuja. He said a subsidiary of the African Industries Group has fully integrated a mining and steel processing plant. In Gujeni village in the Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He said that the fully integrated mining and steel processing plant had a mining capacity of over five million tonnes per annum. Therefore, promoting Nigeria’s position in the world due to its peculiar nature.

The Head of Mining of the company, Partha Ghosh represented at the event the GMD. He says, “Nigeria has the 12th largest steel deposits in the world, with over three billion tonnes of resources in Kogi, Enugu, Zamfara, and Kaduna states. “Focusing on steel, Nigeria can reduce dependency on imports and the economy will become a major player in global markets.”

He added that African Natural Resources and Mines Limited would help to reduce the nation’s $3.3bn steel import. There are plans to commission the plant later this year since it’s 95% ready. Also, this plant would, directly and indirectly, employ up to 4000 Nigerians. Which is over 95% ready and would be commissioned by the president later this year.
