The European Union (EU) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have announced that they have assisted in the return of over 500 stranded Nigerian migrants to their home country this year. Currently, 162 Nigerian migrants have returned safely from Libya on the IOM’s fourth charter flight of the year. The evacuations were carried out with the assistance of the EU’s Joint Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration.
