Azman Air has reshuffled a number of appointments amongst its management cadre following the recently concluded audit of the airline by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

In a letter signed by the Admin and Human Resources Manager, Magaji Misau, on April 4, 2021, it sacked Zakaria Al-Najjar as its acting Head of Maintenance while appointing Peter Vungmo to the position.

The letter read, “Further to the recent development in the airline, management directed to notify you of its decision to relieve you from your appointment as acting Head of Maintenance, with effect from today, April 4, 2021.

“Kindly arrange to hand over the maintenance department to Peter Vungmo who has been appointed on acting capacity as Head of Maintenance.”

The letter titled ‘Re: Your appointment as acting head of maintenance’ thanked Al-Najjar for the success attained in the position and assured him of the plan to work with him as the A340-600 maintenance engineer.

Similarly, the airline appointed Sunusi Mahi as a Flight Safety Officer with effect from April 1 to replace Captain Tijjani Shaddad who resigned from the airline recently.

The letter expressed confidence in Mahi, urging him to liaise with the quality manager, safety manager and other relevant officers concerned with the safe operations of the airline.

It also upgraded the appointment of Eyas Adwan from cabin services training manager to Azman Air Training Manager.

The letter tasked Adwan to ensure that all training needs of the airline and staff of all departments were harmonised and attended to in good time and in accordance with the training manual of the airline.

The PUNCH had on Monday reported the airline’s indebtedness of N1,545,262,120.31 to the NCAA according to an audit report.

The regulator in the report signed by the Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu and dated April 2, 2021, said the airline violated Section 12 (1) of the Civil Aviation Act, 2006 as regards non-remittance of five per cent of the Ticket Sales Charge and Cargo Sales Charge.

It also accused the airline of failing to meet up its monthly obligation in submitting its financial health report for the months despite several reminders.

The audit report also revealed that the airline was found wanting in safety and the discharge of the duties of the accountable manager.
