Sirika Seeks Private Sector Support For Aviation Infrastructure

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has stressed the need for Nigeria to attract private investors that will support the funding of aviation infrastructure in the sub-region.

Sirika made the call while speaking virtually on Thursday at a high-level ministerial meeting on air transport in West Africa.

He said the support was imperative for air connectivity.

The minister said, “I wish to reiterate that for all our efforts to achieve its desired objectives, we must address the issue of financing and modernisation of our aviation infrastructure in line with the framework for aviation infrastructure development in Africa.

“We must attract private investors to support the funding of our infrastructure projects by building a very transparent stable and predictable investment climate as well as include aviation in our national development plan.”

The minister who described air connectivity as an asset designed to improve the global competitiveness of cities, states and regions said the benefit of the initiative would improve trade, tourism and economic development of the sub-region.
